 Fishing

Tofino provides plenty of great fishing opportunities both offshore and inshore depending on preference and weather. Offshore fishing provides the best chance to catch chinook and coho salmon, halibut, lingcod and a variety of rockfish species. There’s plenty of great fishing in our calm inshore waters as well. Here we can focus on catching chinook salmon until August 1st, or coho that migrate in from June to October.

Hot Springs

North of Tofino, nestled into the rocky coastline, lies Hot Springs Cove – a remote series of natural geothermal pools, accessed only by boat or float plane. The journey to the springs takes roughly 1.5 hours (24 nautical miles), which gives us lots of opportunity to do some wildlife spotting. While the springs can get busy, let us help plan your trip to avoid the crowds and maximize your adventure.

After being dropped off at the dock, you will have the opportunity to walk through the old growth rainforest on a boardwalk trail for approximately thirty minutes before you reach the springs. The pools sit at 50 degrees celsius, and are naturally cooled by the oceans swell.

 Wildlife

Almost any trip with Northwest Ocean Adventures will cover a large portion of Tofino’s coastline, and with that comes the opportunity to take in some of the amazing wildlife in the region. Grey and Humpback whales are the most common whale sightings in the sound, however Orcas have also been known to make an appearance on occasion. Along with these magnificent creatures, you are also likely to see, harbour seals sea lions and sea otters swimming about. In our in-shore waters, bears can be found foraging the low-tide shoreline for food.
